This channel aims to educate consumers about weaknesses and defects in security devices so they can make better security decisions. It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway: do not use any of the information presented in my videos for illegal purposes.

Please note that I do not recommend locks, nor do I provide assistance in opening them. For advice getting started in locksport, I recommend the “University” at LockLab.com. For all other inquiries, email me (channel name at gmail). One final note - I usually receive over one hundred emails each day, and though I spend a couple hours a day answering emails, I can’t answer them all. Apologies in advance if your email is one that slips through the cracks.

I had a lock with a piece of pocket gravel stuck inside which would unlock every time with a key but would seize every single time when you pick it. I was never able to recreate that lock.

    Pocket Sand...

  3. SurikenTSD

Why did the author not show how the canvas of this "lock" can withstand a bite with ordinary wire cutters? Another way to open this "lock" is to melt the plastic part of the canvas with a burner or lighter.

  4. soiung toiue

Theory: the safe actually is slash resistant, but he has a super power to open any lock

  5. Tvinka

That is truly an American concept to buy something in order to destroy it. It do not see the point, the planet does not see the point. As if we had doubts it was going to be slash resistant.

We have a door without a key and this would be a great tool to replace the the lock non destructively

    1. Mr. DD

The door has an assa lock, from what I tested a 5 pin, any recommendations on tools?

  15. Paul Paulsen

The longer the video, the better the lock... 🔒

  16. Don Kremer

So the real key to this lock is an Allen key.

I would have called a privacy device, since not a lock, and better than a "Do not disturb"

  21. Ralph Morgan

You're using this 'safe' incorrectly - you put your valuables in your sock, and then carry this around as a decoy ;)

“1960s Soviet” explains everything...no quality control as only quantity mattered. unless it was on the doors of top officials it didn’t matter to the managers as long as they were churned out

40 years ago there came a manual how to set the valves with a motorbike. Nowadays the manual says:"don't drink the battery fluid". This states where we are today.

  29. unknown User

Who calls a locksmith for his bike lock? Also a locksmith is doing a job to get money. If you are not a lockpicking enthusiast you don't spent much time learning and practising how to open a very specific lock core, cause how often would you need it and who would pay you money if you make it seem easy. For someone without practise it is way faster to cut a bikelock open than fumbling around for a long time that nobody is willing to pay for. Specific tools also cost money and if you only use them for one type of core you encounter once in 5 years, why bother buying them. An angelgrinder is a cheap, quick, multipurpose tool. Still nice video and awesome time.

If this guy is a lawyer, how does he have so much time to help people break into things? Yes his videos are interesting but WTF?

  32. Terminator Fish Studios

It takes him longer to get of the tape, than too pick the lock... Just rap your doors in flex tape and your house will be safe.🤔🥴

  33. Balzar Ulfreed

might as well put your items in a stick of butter at least then they couldn't get a grip on it

    1. soiung toiue

Seems pretty slash resistant to me...

  34. franzrogar

Did they ask for permission to the house owner to test it or they chose a random house?

  35. Robert Sutherland

I'm amazed that stores and lock companies don't want to sue this guy. You'd think he was working for the bad guys. He carries on like an instructor in the fine arts...of theft. lol If I owned a safe I certainly wouldn't want this guy showing everyone how to break into it easily. Maybe someone should take videos of all the locks and security devices in his house so we can all be instructed on how to break in. lol

  44. Tea Cup

I believe that this key lock is fulfilling its role. Rather, it is a psychological defense. Many, having seen a lock with a key (any lock with a key), simply will not get involved After all, not everyone watches this channel

@LockPickingLawyer you stated that the lock was made 2013 - I just wanted to ask you if 2013 disc container locks were as easily picked (by an experianced picker) as you had shown it today? I agree for 2021 pick proof for a container lock is not true - How was it 8 years ago?

  49. Uige

please tell me i'm not the only person who "awww"ed when he said the lock was welded shut.

  50. Isherwood

I see a disc container lock, waiting for the term "the pick bosnian bill and I made" - not dissapointed.

  53. KuraMad2000

Wha? How is hitting it with a mallet harder than stabbing it with a shim? Hammers are everywhere. Those shims are kinda specialty, therefore I'd argue the shimming method would be more difficult than the hammer method.

  65. manticorenettleable

Just picked my first commercial grade lock!! The calmness and methodical style espoused by Mr LPL helped a lot. It was a Masterlock, and it was worth every $0.01 of the purchase price to get that click. Started off needing to pick my window locks - here in Aus it's a legal requirement to have window locks on apartments above ground floor - stuck indoors last year I needed those locks off to breathe. Those didn't need any skill, just blunder about at the end with a random pick. However with the Masterlock it required the full ritual - bottom of the keyway tension; sequential 'nothing on one, click out of two, three is binding, nudging four and then 'CLICK' it's open :) Very satisfying.

  66. James Davis

I CANT FIND IT ONT HE WEBSITE!!!

  67. Don The Spotter

I hate these type of locks

    lol i love it.

  70. Nikolaj Winther

Fairly new to this channel, so maybe this has been argued ad nausem. First of all, impressive skill. Second - and this is my "complaint": LL's recommendations or rather discouragements are based on picking in near-laboratory conditions. Lots of space, lots of time, comfortable working conditions and easy access to all sides of any lock. I'd wager this'd Bea lot harder under many real-life conditions, such as restricted access to the lock itself or the workspace around it. And as such, I'd like it if his "reviews" came with some recommendations to situations where the lock would actually be quite safe.

  71. Andrew L.

So... Cover key hole with epoxi or a broken key and done

  72. KEX CZ

Wow, this is just so profi! +in a little more time than picking it once, you made a key that can be used infinitely, just as you wish, really smart! 😃.😏

  73. Christian Elvers

Wer can I buy it? I‘m asking for a friend!

  74. Ellie Williams

All the teaf will be thanking you 😀

  75. R. Dexter

Seeing my keys staring back at me in your thumbnail made me nervous, but you taking over 2 minutes to pick a lock means it's super difficult for normal people!

  76. caleb wampler

That upper looks... weird It might be an ar18 I’m not sure.

  77. Mithrandir the Grey

So I can buy one of these and throw away the rest of my keys? Sounds like a deal.

  78. T2 Studios

The thing I don't understand about these lock companies is: if they know what the problem is, why don't they try doing that same attack themselves? Why do they have to go through all the trouble of sending it to LPL when they could do the same thing he did and not get humiliated in the process lmao

  79. Fossil Friendly

yeah i guess i dont' understand why the big one is easier to pick that the little one.the little one would be easier to cut with a bolt cutter so really who cares if it's easy to pick or not. the big one is harder to use a bolt cutter on so why is it so easy to pick? just doesn't make sense to be honest

  80. IggyWon1

Is there a pistol safe that isn't complete garbage?
